In V Rising, you awaken as a vampire in Vardoran and gradually build a castle. Stunlock Studios’ survival action RPG combines exploration, resource gathering and combat: you hunt for blood, avoid the daytime sun and defeat powerful enemies to gain new abilities.
You can start alone in a local world or cooperate and compete with other vampires online. V Rising is available on Steam and PlayStation 5. The Invaders of Oakveil update expanded the game world; paid cosmetic packs such as the Eternal Dominance Pack are separate.
Castle Building and Cosmetic Design
Resources and newly discovered knowledge let you build a castle to store your loot. You can also craft coffins for servants and friends. The castle gives you a domain to shape and expand as you venture outside for materials and new ways to develop your vampire.
Cosmetic content is a separate part of the game’s offering. The Eternal Dominance Pack, for example, adds ornate clothing and castle decoration. It is separate cosmetic DLC; the official image below illustrates its visual style.
Blood Hunting, Sunlight and Exploration
Your vampire needs blood, and the time of day shapes your routes through Vardoran. During the day, you seek shadows to avoid burning sunlight. At night, hunting for blood and valuable resources takes center stage. The cycle therefore matters when planning your expeditions and return journeys.
The open world takes you through forests, countryside and dark caverns. You gather resources, pillage villages and bandit camps, and challenge supernatural foes. Exploration, combat and castle building connect: what you find and learn outside gives you more ways to develop your domain.
Weapons, Spells and Other Vampires
Combat lets you combine weapons with spells gained by defeating powerful foes. Aiming attacks and dodging projectiles form part of the fighting system. Your chosen combination of weapons and magic shapes your play style.
You can play V Rising locally alone or venture online with other vampires. The game supports both cooperation and competition: you can explore together, while rival vampires can also raid other players’ castles. The official Steam description explains these possibilities.
What Invaders of Oakveil Adds
Update 1.1, Invaders of Oakveil, introduced the Oakveil Woodlands and the Venom Blades. Megara, the Serpent Queen, commands these invaders as they harvest Venom Sap. Stunlock’s release announcement describes new systems, features, the region and its enemy faction. This update has already been released; the Eternal Dominance Pack presented alongside it is separate cosmetic content.
