Palworld

Palworld combines survival, base building, and exploration with Pals that fight, travel, and help produce supplies. Learn how its main loop works and which multiplayer option fits your group.

Overview

Palworld is an open-world survival game from Pocketpair where you explore, build, and fight alongside creatures called Pals. You gather food and materials, capture Pals, and use their abilities to prepare for further trips. Back at your base, their work helps turn those resources into the supplies you need to keep exploring.

A Pal can be useful well beyond combat. Some help grow crops or mine ore, while others provide fire or electricity. The world also contains dangerous areas, poachers, and weapons, so its colorful creatures are part of a survival game with real threats. Palworld reached its full Steam release on July 9, 2026, after entering Early Access there on January 18, 2024.

Explore, Capture Pals, and Supply Your Base

Exploration brings you materials, new Pals, and routes into more of the world. Pals can accompany you in fights or serve as mounts across land, sea, and air. You can also take them into dungeons. Choosing which ones to bring affects how you travel and what help you have when an expedition turns dangerous.

At your base, building, feeding Pals, and production are connected. Different Pals can plant seeds, water and harvest crops, mine ore, make fire, or generate electricity. That makes your choice of Pals relevant to the jobs you need done, as well as to combat. Pals need food to keep working in a factory. Pocketpair also describes breeding that passes parental characteristics to offspring. This gives you another way to develop your collection. The Palworld Steam page outlines these systems and the PC requirements.

Play Solo, in Co-Op, or on a Server

You can play Palworld alone or share an adventure. Steam describes online co-op for up to four players and dedicated servers for up to 32. A dedicated server runs the world without requiring its host to keep the game client open. A community server is a dedicated server registered in the game’s server list.

Server type matters when your group uses different platforms. According to Pocketpair’s server guide, these servers support cross-platform play for Steam, Xbox Series, the Windows version from the Microsoft Store, macOS, and PS5. Xbox and PS5 players must join through a community server. If you are setting up a persistent world for friends across those platforms, account for that requirement when choosing how to host it.

Availability and PC Requirements

Pocketpair both develops and publishes Palworld. It is a paid purchase on Steam, where the listed features include single-player, online co-op, and cross-platform multiplayer. The Steam requirements call for 64-bit Windows, broadband internet, and an SSD. Before buying, check the full PC specifications and, if you plan to play together, the platforms your group will use.
