Grounded 2 shrinks you down to explore Brookhollow Park. You gather resources, craft weapons and armor, build a base, and ride insect companions called Buggies across the park. The survival adventure supports solo play and online co-op.
Obsidian Entertainment and Eidos-Montréal develop the game, with Xbox Game Studios as publisher. Grounded 2 entered Steam Early Access on July 29, 2025. In August 2026, Obsidian also listed it in Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, and in Early Access on PlayStation 5.
Exploration, Bases, and Buggies
Exploring the park goes hand in hand with crafting equipment, fighting insects, and building a place to return to. Buggies are rideable insect companions that can help with travel, combat, and gathering. You can explore alone or share the adventure through online co-op.
Into the Abyss and Rot and Ruin
The released Into the Abyss update expanded the park underwater. Optical Disks unlock Diving Suit recipes for deeper exploration, while building pieces such as Bubble Floors make underwater bases possible. It also introduced the amphibious Toe Biter Buggy for travel on land and in water.
Rot and Ruin is in Public Test. Its test content includes termites, a centipede boss, the Potato Beetle Buggy, and new systems for equipment, dodging, and base decoration. These additions are part of the test rather than a regular update release.
