Valheim: Build a Beehive and Produce Honey

Ten wood and a Queen Bee form the foundation. Queens come from wild hives; your own hive needs a suitable location.

10 Wood; 1 Queen Bee; Workbench + Open Space

Building a Valheim beehive requires a workbench in range, ten wood and a Queen Bee. Find queens in wild beehives, often in abandoned wooden buildings. Listen for buzzing and keep your distance while destroying the hive.

  1. Search abandoned buildings for a wild beehive.
  2. Destroy it from a safe distance, for example with a bow, and collect the dropped Queen Bee.
  3. At your base, ensure a workbench covers the building site and have ten wood ready.
  4. Select the beehive with the hammer and place it in an open, suitable location.
  5. Check its status message. If the bees reject the location, relocate it before waiting for production.

What Honey Is For

Honey is food and an ingredient in several mead bases. A base and the finished drink are separate production steps: fermentation needs further equipment. A beehive alone does not produce a finished resistance potion.

Harvest honey regularly. If the hive shows no yield, first inspect its condition and location; having a recipe does not establish production is running.

More hives can later expand supply. Mead also needs the particular base’s other ingredients and a way to ferment it.
