Subnautica 2: Buddy Hotfix Corrects Scanners, Generators and Voice Chat

Unknown Worlds addresses issues after the Buddy System update. Check mod compatibility before first launching the new version.

Subnautica 2: official scene from the Steam product gallery

The second Subnautica 2 Buddy System hotfix is available. Scanner Stations should locate resources correctly again. Thermal and Hydroelectric Generators receive fixes for incorrect or lost power after an area unloads and reloads.

These issues concern state when loading a world area. The update does not confirm a general increase in generator output. Do not calculate a base expansion from a supposed universal percentage in this hotfix.

Co-op and Tadpole

Voice chat recognises local and remote players more consistently. Another fix prevents players incorrectly seeing the host as dead after their own death. Tadpole docking, teleporting back from world boundaries and Leviathan grabbing change too.

Moved and reloaded Biobeds display the correct model again. Carryable Racks should not duplicate tool visuals while carried. Blackbox signals and scanner text receive missing names or correct icons.

Unknown Worlds also fixes VSync with DLSS Dynamic Frame Generation and an Xbox memory leak from accumulated audio commands. These platform-specific points differ from PC mod compatibility.

The studio asks players to temporarily disable or remove mods before launching after the hotfix and enable them again only after compatible updates. Back up required files before modifying an installation and check mod authors’ instructions. A mod problem does not establish that every unmodified save has the same issue.
