Icarus Week 251: Tame Kiwis and Specialise Them for Night Combat

Craft Snare Trap and Kiwi Bait at the Ranching Station. Alternatively, the animals support carrying capacity, eggs and nighttime resource yields.

RocketWerkz released tameable Kiwis in Icarus. The developers attribute the idea partly to a particularly persistent community request. This establishes that player’s specific influence, rather than a measured majority opinion among all players.

Kiwis are nocturnal. During daytime, they are weaker and slower in combat than comparable companions such as wolves. With appropriate levels and talents, the studio describes them as substantially more aggressive at night.

Useful Outside Combat Too

Talents can support a carrying-capacity aura and egg production. Another nighttime aura increases mining and wood-felling yields. A Kiwi is therefore more than a small combat pet; specialisation depends on purpose.

Catching requires a Snare Trap and special Kiwi Bait from the Ranching Station. Place and bait the trap in the forest biome, then wait for night and a Kiwi. Fresh carcasses, care and safety build the caught animal’s trust.

Icarus: Catch and Tame a Kiwi With a Trap and Bait explains the complete sequence and typical mistakes. The animal remains dangerous before completion; catching is not completed taming.

Week 251 also fixes incorrect dummy water items when skinning ice-yielding creatures and missing crafting experience. The subsequently announced Field Guide revision is now available with Week 252.
