V Rising: where to put ServerHostSettings and ServerGameSettings

Stunlock provides Windows instructions for V Rising’s current PC server 1.1. PS5 has separate documentation.

Choose the right file

ServerHostSettings.json: hosting settings such as server name and connection.
ServerGameSettings.json: gameplay rules.

Keep custom settings separate

Avoid editing the supplied defaults in VRisingServer_Data/StreamingAssets/Settings/ directly. Updates can replace them.

On Windows, local overrides normally belong in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRisingServer\Settings. Provide complete files or just values that differ from the defaults.

Use a custom data path

-persistentDataPath sets the parent data directory. Settings and Saves sit beneath it; the argument does not point directly at Settings. Give multiple servers separate data paths.
