Iron Gate explains that early 1.0 conversion could lose levels and variants of items on item and armour stands. New worlds convert correctly from 1.0.12. A later patch does not automatically reconstruct previously lost data.
Two Routes Described by the Studio
Fully restoring the backup from before the format change returns the old world state but loses every world change made afterwards. Independently back up the current world before choosing this route.
The second option rescues items from a copy of the old world:
- End the session and back up the current world and character. Work with copies, rather than your only backup.
- Create a separate copy of the backup from before faulty conversion.
- Open it with a corrected version from 1.0.12 onwards and collect affected items onto your character.
- Return with those carried items to the current main world.
- Replace damaged items and check levels and variants before removing further backups.
This retains newer world progress but requires correct item data still present in the old copy. A backup after damaged conversion cannot recreate missing values from nothing.
Do Not Treat Every 1.0 Issue Alike
Terrain seams, incorrectly flagged cheat items and deleted chunk objects are different issues. This item transfer is not a general repair for every world problem. For unclear causes, Iron Gate identifies its support channel; provide version and backup time.
