Icarus: Catch and Tame a Kiwi With a Trap and Bait

Catch Kiwis at night in the forest and then provide fresh carcasses. Catching alone does not complete taming.

Trap + Kiwi Bait; Forest at Night; Fresh Carcasses + Safety; Complete Taming

Since Week 251, Icarus Kiwis can be tamed as companions. Craft the required Snare Trap and Kiwi Bait at the Ranching Station. Kiwis live in the forest biome and are nocturnal.

  1. Prepare the trap and special Kiwi bait. General bait is not automatically equivalent.
  2. Place the trap in the forest and attach Kiwi Bait.
  3. Wait for night and a Kiwi to enter the trap.
  4. Provide the trapped animal with fresh carcasses. Protect it and keep the surroundings safe.
  5. Wait for actual taming completion before treating it as a harmless companion.

Choose Talents for the Purpose

RocketWerkz names combat, carrying support, eggs and a nighttime aura increasing mining and wood-felling yields. A weak daytime Kiwi is therefore not necessarily wrongly equipped: nocturnal combat abilities are part of its described specialisation.

If the trap stays empty, check biome, bait and time of day. If caught but not becoming tame, inspect care and safety. The source gives no binding minute-by-minute taming duration; arbitrary waiting times should not be sold as guaranteed steps.

Comparisons with a wolf also need level, talent distribution and time of day. This small companion is not a blanket replacement for every previous combat tame, but can fill another deliberate role.
